If you need someone tonight, start here.
The Thriving Initiative runs healing programs — we are not a crisis service, and this site is not monitored around the clock. The lines below are, every day of the year. All of them are free and confidential, and none of them require you to report anything.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

On your campus
Confidential advocates exist at every school we work with.
Every California public university has a confidential CARE advocate or survivor advocacy office. Confidential means they are not required to report to the university — unlike most faculty and staff, who are. If you're not sure who's confidential on your campus, ask before you share anything.
UCSB
Search “UCSB confidential advocate” or ask your student health centre for the survivor advocacy office. TNJS at UCSB is separate from campus reporting entirely.
SDSU
Search “SDSU confidential advocate” or ask your student health centre for the survivor advocacy office. TNJS at SDSU is separate from campus reporting entirely.
SFSU
Search “SFSU confidential advocate” or ask your student health centre for the survivor advocacy office. TNJS at SFSU is separate from campus reporting entirely.
Browsing safely
If someone might be checking your device.
Leaving a page doesn't erase that you visited it. A few things that help:
Use the Quick exit button
It's in the header of every page on this site. One tap sends this window to a weather site and opens a neutral tab.
Browse privately
A private or incognito window doesn't save history on the device. It won't hide activity from network monitoring software.
Use a device that isn't shared
A library computer or a friend's phone is safer than a shared laptop or a family plan phone.
Clear your history afterwards
In most browsers: settings → history → clear browsing data. Consider clearing a wider window than just this visit, so the gap isn't obvious.
When you're ready for something ongoing, we're here.
No rush, no deadline. TNJS runs every academic quarter, and the interest form stays open all year.
